1 GCE A Level, plus 3 GCSES (at Grade C or above) or equivalent, plus a portfolio of artwork. Applicants will normally be 18 years old or above

• Develop a highly individual portfolio of work
• Identify which art and design specialism to apply for at degree level
• Learn critical thinking skills
• Learn how to research thoroughly in a way that impacts on your ideas & work
• Art and design project work, life drawing, seminars, tutorials, lectures
• Work with conventional and unusual materials and media
• Learn to generate and pursue creative ideas
• Work in a dynamic environment
Assessment
No exams. Assessment is continuous, based on coursework. The final terms work is displayed in an exhibition and graded.
The course is perfectly suited to post A-level students who wish to develop their art and design skills to progress to higher education. In special circumstances a proven ability to draw may ensure acceptance onto the Foundation course. Mature students (aged 21 or over) who do not have the formal qualifications are also welcome. The course is now situated at the Green Lane Campus with excellent and extensive facilities and studios.
Additional studies
Key skills are integrated into the programme with communication up to Level 3 taken.

Successful completion of the course will enable students to take part in the College Compact arrangement to progress to higher level courses within the college.
