There are no specific entry requirements. However, you will be given the opportunity to show your artwork at an interview.

What you will do
• You will be introduced to a range of 2 dimensional and 3 dimensional art and design areas, such as painting, drawing, graphic design, surface design, fashion design, sculpture and 3D design
• You will explore and learn about different art and design techniques and processes
• You will be shown how your ideas can be expressed through art & design
• Discover how other artists and designers work and how they have made a career in art and design
• Create a portfolio of work and gain qualifications that will enable you to progress onto higher level courses or employment
• Develop personal skills in communication with the opportunity to achieve key skills and skills for life that are essential when applying to higher level courses or employment
• You will be given the opportunity to work in a creative and exciting environment within a specialist art and design college
• You will be given advice and guidance to help you to choose a specialist pathway for further progression

Assessment
Work will be assessed throughout the year and you will receive informal and formal assessment reviews as well as regular tutorials and progress reviews.

Additional studies
You will have the opportunity to develop skills and an additional NCFE certificate covering painting and drawing. Exciting study visits are included within the programme e.g. gallery and museum visits.

What can I do next?
• Level 1 progress onto BTEC First Diploma (Level 2)
• Level 2 progress onto a specialist BTEC National Diploma course within the college; or employment
