What will I study?
- On the course you will explore a wide range of materials and making processes in our extensive workshops
- You will have your own dedicated workspace
- We will show you how to use digital design tools such as: 3D StudioMax and Photoshop
- We have excellent industrial links which allows you to be involved in live projects set by professional architects and designers who will help you develop your ideas
- There will be exciting study visits to exhibitions and events
What else can I study?
You will have the opportunity to study an A-level in Fine Art (Sculpture) or a NCFE qualification.
What can I do after this course?
You can progress onto a range of courses at Degree or Foundation Degree level. Students from this course have progressed onto university to study courses such as: Interior Design, Architecture, Product Design, Exhibition Design, Transport Design, Furniture Design, Design for props and sets for TV & Theatre, Teaching in design, Computer Games Design and Computer Animation.

Live projects / Trips / Competitions
During this course you will be set live projects by companies in the design industry.
In 2011, First year students completed a product design project for Costa Coffee to design the packaging for environmentally friendly milk cartons. Second year students completed an interior design project for Chamilia Jewellery in partnership with a team of professional designers in the same year.
Other live projects include the development of interior design schemes for a five star hotel in York and students from both year groups were successful in a competition set by northern architecture to design a new housing development working with practising architects.
You will also have the opportunity to go on study trips, students in recent years have visited Barcelona on 5 day study tours taking in the amazing architecture, design and experiencing the vibrant city life. Day trips are built into the course at relevant times to add an extra experience to projects.
